Wellbeing

The two key themes of wellbeing are: improving health and wellbeing; and improving community integration.

Improving health and wellbeing

We are passionate about supporting our workforce with their mental health, and are working to promote an open culture around mental health across our businesses.  We are aware of the challenges our workforce faces both at home and work, and have qualified Mental Health First Aiders, including site management staff, who are available to our staff and site supply chain.

We are committed to providing confidential support and are signed up to Togetherall -  a safe, anonymous online per community support platform, and in 2023, we signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment - an organisation which provides a framework to recognise the importance of promoting staff wellbeing.

Improving community integration

We are focused on working predominately within a 30-mile radius of our base, and pride ourselves on our commitment to using local suppliers and labour, helping retain money in the local economy.

Through our HR team, we engage with local schools and colleges to provide support, including getting involved with CV training, mock interviews, and work experience opportunities.  Our social value activities extend to our sites, and we engage with our site teams to look at ways to collaborate/embed ourselves with our client’s business and the local area where we work.

As a group, we support our staff’s charitable endeavours both financially and in promoting their events, and for the last three years we have chosen a charity, or group of charities, to support at Christmas, in lieu of supplier gifts, and we continue to support them throughout the following year.  Our Charities of the Year for 2024 are Autism Bedfordshire and The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
